I set up a second current account years ago so that I had a separate debit card to use for hotels/car hire etc as I had fallen victim to credit card skimming so I was reluctant to hand over my cc.

The second current account has a minimal balance in it, and no overdraft so no real danger of any skimming. If I use it for a hotel stay and want to use that card to pay with I just transfer the money between accounts.

Might work for you also?

That's an idea. I might look into that.
Thanks

I have read of people putting a lump sum of cash onto their account on embarkation and keeping it topped up. Any left at the end obviously refunded. I also believe if it’s a staycation they are now using an app for booking things and it shows your balance. Always used a card so can’t say for definite.

Thanks for the information. I think that might be the best way to go.

Have sailed with P&O lots and always deposit cash once onboard.

I've never used a credit card, just cash which can be topped up throughout your time onboard if need be.

Anything left over is given back at the end of your cruise when you settle your account.

Thanks Poppie. I'm glad we can use cash. It will make it so much easier for us instead of using cards. (I'm still old school) 😉

my.pocruises/mycruise/ar.../money-service

I’m trying to post a link direct to the Money Matters page I can see when logged in to P&O.

Having trouble getting it to work, but it clearly says a card must be registered even is you wish to settle your account in cash. The first per authorisation is for £50.00

Never had to do this. Always explained we'll be using cash on embarkation. Got our cruise id cards and headed straight to reception and deposited the cash there.
It's never been a problem and quite a few people ( especially elderly) do the same.
It's always said in the terms etc that a card needs to be registered, but i never have.

I’ve always used a card, so have no experience of any other system, just sharing what I’ve read and seen. That said I’ve never uploaded my own security photo in the past as part of online check in, it’s always been taken at the check in desk with P&O (I know they piloted it on some ships in 2919) so just good to be prepared just in case.
