You can pay and add on a Dining Plan to a DVC booking but it will be the US version and price of it; any future UK special deals (e.g free Dining Plan) will not apply!

One more question:

A lot of the sites I have been looking at require payment upfront at the time the reservation is made. Is that normal? It’s a lot of money to part with that far in advance of your visit so it made me a little nervous!

It is fairly normal. Some of the brokers hold on to a percentage but if booking with an owner direct it is pretty typical.

You have to remember you are not dealing with a company here but an owner who for some reason can’t (or doesn’t want to) use their points.

Part of the reason you pay less is reduced flexibility.

Totally normal, you are making a commitment on points which have a finite use window. The owner can't afford (in most cases) to only take a deposit.

And another two 🤣🤣

Can anyone recommend a specific insurance company that they’ve used that covers DVC Rental?

I’ve been looking at David’s - although prices are pretty similar everywhere. Are there any other websites that people can recommend?

You can try DVC-rental.com to check for DVC rentals. They don't require any payment to check availability and are the longest running US DVC rental company.

I had considered DVC rental as they require only a percentage at booking but for next year I am not booking DVC. I am just not sure that travel will be normal.

I had DVC booked this year and had to cancel and while the Dibber involed didn't have to give me any refund she kindly gave me a small percentage of what I had paid and I appreciate that but I won't take the risk again for a while, I still lost a lot of money!

Many of us won't be using David's to rent our points out - I won't be for sure as all the risk is on me and I have to pay a middleman? No thanks.
