busy day guide and EMH, planning for Aug 2020
Hi all dibbers
This will be our 3rd visit but first onsite with a DDP, so excited. I am busy planning park days and getting ready for ADR day in 6 days time. But it has been brought to my attention about using EMH as we are staying on site. So i started to look into when they were scheduled during August. I was looking at the Dibb park hours for Aug 10th (our first planned day) and it says that the park with EMH is AK. It also says its "Least Recommended". Is this because of EMH? is it warning offsite quests that because of EMH it will be very busy? What info does the Dibb have to say it's not recommended. Any ideas out there peeps? Cheers

Hover over the least recommended park for more info. It will tell you what to do when on-site.

I mean on the busy day guide rather than the park hours. As you mentioned the busy day guide in the thread title I thought you were using that.

This is the approach we've taken in the past with EMH and we always go in August.
Avoid EMH in the evening. Too rammed, we just don't enjoy it. In the morning, staying onsite, if you can get to the park an hour before opening, EMH can be great, you can get 2 or 3 rides under your belt before the hoards come in. The thing with morning EMH if you can imagine how many people are on site distributed throughout all of those hotels and resorts and they all know it's EMH so they decide to trundle over to that park arriving between 8am and 9.00am. That's a lot of people. However, in the past we've been in the park for rope drop, often in August cast members will start letting people in before official opening to disperse people, but the rides won't be open. Position yourself for the ride you want to be on first and just wait to get in the standby line. Sometimes you can even ride it twice! If you can't be there for about an hour before park opening, don't bother, go to a different park instead while all the early guests are at the morning EMH park. If you get there shortly after park opening or just before park opening, imagine how many people will be in the queue before you for those standby lines. Since fastpass + we have not been to a park during morning EMH. Good luck with your planning.

Yes, it's "Least Recommended" because it has EMH that day. This warning is primarily aimed at offsite guests, although it also sort of applies to onsite guests during regular park hours. If you are staying onsite it is generally recommended to use EMH because there will be less people in the park during EMH. But it might be best for you to visit a different park if you aren't planning on using EMH.
The theory is that EMH attracts more onsite guests and together with the normal number of offsite guests it'll mean the park will be slightly busier than other days. Whether this is actually the case or not is debatable - if you look at the wait times and compare EMH days to non-EMH days there doesn't seem to be an obvious correlation to me (especially not for morning EMH).
