50th anniversary celebrations!

No one knows. Well, some folk in Disney might have an idea but the rest of us don't know.

All we know is that they will start on or before 1st October 2021.

I suspect the celebrations won't start too much before October 2021, but that is just a random guess.

Following this too...

I for some reason thought they might start early but not so sure now so debating whether to do different parks in 2021... hopefully they release details with the DDP release

The celebrations might start early. We don’t know and Disney isn’t saying. At least, not at the moment.

The interesting bit from the link posted by AliceCooper9 above is the following:

“Both of those events kicked off on the actual start day of their anniversary, so I'd say aim for that date or even a few months after to ensure things will be in full swing”.

Based on previous celebrations they didn’t start until the time of the actual anniversary. Hence my guess.

I’m assuming Disney will milk it a bit but is it your impression it’ll go on for months after rather than months before? It would suit us better if it’s after as we normally go September and it’s also my 50th so I really need to be there!

Such a dilemma what to do! 🤣 have been very fortunate that we have done 2017 and 2019 at wdw... we are yet to see galaxy's edge but this isnt something I would say is a must for us as a family...I'm hesitant to commit to 2021 park ticket prices if the new attractions ie

Tron, guardians of the galaxy etc will all open in the October.

Hopefully more will be revealed in the DDP announcements.

I expect the celebrations to go on for at least a year afterwards. The celebrations won't be as major as the ones in October 2021 itself, but they will probably still be celebrating until the end of 2022. The Disney parks were still celebrating the 25th anniversary in December 1997 when we first went - that was 14 months after the actual 25th anniversary.

It's very much a guess on my part but I don't expect the celebrations to occur until WDW hits 50 in October 2021. However, I could be totally wrong and they may start in Spring/Summer 2021 to entice more visitors and sell more merchandise.

Someone on another thread commented that the Disneyland 50th celebrations started 2 months before. I’m not sure how I feel about that as part of me wants to see them but I worry how busy September will be

. I just need to make sure we’re home well before the 1st October!
