Hi. No it's all changed now. You can now choose your seats as soon as you have booked your flights. I'm guessing you booked your flights before this change and therefore cant do this.

I believe that's correct.

It's still 331 days before the scheduled departure date which is when the flights are officially released.

Yeah, technically you can't choose your flights until 331 days out, because they don't get released before that. But you can choose as soon as you've booked, if you book Classic or Delight

If you have booked with Virgin Holidays it may be that you have booked more than 331 days in advance and can then only book seats when this time comes around as that is when the flight is released. If booking with Virgin Atlantic you can only book from 331 days and therefore book seats straight away. I think that's where the confusion between the two people.

From VA's FAQs:

If I already have an Economy booking, can I still purchase an extra legroom seat?

It depends on your date of travel. If you're flying on or before 9 April 2018, then you'll still be able to purchase an extra legroom seat. For flights on or after 10 April 2018, you can upgrade to Economy Delight if there is availability. Just visit My booking, speak to your travel agent, or give our customer centre a call. Please note, if your booking is in Economy Light, you won't be able to upgrade.
