Thomas Cook Air Tanker
Hi all, just wanted to reassure anyone who is travelling on the Air Tanker 2 with no IFE. I have watched the debates on here & other forums and was not looking forward to the flight but I have to say it was absolutely fine. We had extra leg room seats (free as we were bumped from PE originally) & had row 9DE&F. The leg room was amazing. I couldn't touch the seat in front even with my legs stretched right out & even DH who is 6'4" could stretch his legs out fully. The overhead screens are placed in the centre section of the planes but we were in row 9 and there were 4 screens between the front and our row so plenty. We were not offered the option to upgrade the IFE so everyone had it for free - not sure if this is because we were delayed for refuelling or not. We only watched on the overhead screens as we hadn't seen the films showing before. They were not suitable for little ones though so most families were using their tablets to entertain little ones.
Food was great, the only time I have ever eaten an airplane meal! I had braised beef. All in all we were pleasantly surprised. The seats were as comfortable as any airplane seat can be and those in normal economy seats also commented that leg room was good. Just wanted to reassure anyone who is worrying about the flight. Whilst it wasn't the most pleasant overseas flight I have been on, it certainly was not the worst!

Same. We got back on it this Friday morning and aside from the usual stiffness and restlessness which I get from any long haul flight, it was one of the best flights ive been on. It was spotlessly clean, felt very new, had plenty toilets which is always a bonus. Food was lovely going out. Crap coming back but then it is with everyone.

came back on this on 11th July
couldn't fault it, sure AT1 and own fleet we went out on was marginally better - but no complaints and would use again happily...

I didn't browse the whole menu to be fair, just watched the overhead screens as I hadn't seen any of he films before. We watched Hot Pursuit & Gravity. There was Happy Feet 2 & Garfield as well but I was well into a game of travel cluedo with DS by then so didn't watch.
Hope we have all reassured those of you who are travelling on it soon. It's a really nice plane.

Great review but just a quick question as the flight im now looking at says operated by aur tanker. Is there normally an issue with this as i have noticed alot of people saying they dont want this plane but i didnt know why. Is it just that each seat doesnt have a tv screen in front of them? Or is it something else too. Thanks

I have just received an e-mail today saying we will be on the air tanker for next year, But it did say that they have seat back entertainment. Is there different air tankers?
