Mobile 1st Attraction for a 1st Timer

I’ve been to WDW 4 times from 2001 to 2008, I’m returning with my WDW 1st timer OH in August for our Honeymoon.
Our first day is going to be at Magic Kingdom (that’s non-negotiable), I was wondering what you lovely Dibbers recommend as a first attraction?

Should we go traditional, big or totally left-field?

For me it would have to be Splash Mountain

Show your OH this photo to whet their appetite.

Taken with a camera (not phone) in the days before lap restraints.

Depends. If he’s cynical about whether he will enjoy MK then go for one of the mountains.

Otherwise pirates or haunted mansion.

He's not allowed to be cynical. I'm too excited to allow cynicism . He has very little idea of what he's getting himself into, so he's quite open. He has been to DL in California in the early 2000s.

I like to ride one of the the iconic cute rides first. So It's a Small World, Peter Pan, Magic Carpets of Aladdin (our 1st ever park ride) would be our choice. If you wanted a bigger ride then I would go for Haunted Mansion or Thunder Mountain as they are traditional rides too

Last year we were first timers. We went into Adventure Land and went on the first ride we saw: Jungle Cruise. From there we did Pirates (twice) then Splash Mountain, then Big Thunder. Couldn’t have asked for a better start to the day

Our tradition (if two visits counts as tradition?) is Space Mountain, and you're so right - MK for your first day is non-negotiable !

Have a wonderful honeymoon
xx

BTW Mick, I LOVE that photo!
