We are flying Heathrow to New York to Tampa with United in 3 weeks and back via Washington. Can't comment on the service yet. We booked through Travel Planners and they got us a great price, much cheaper than we priced up on the internet ourselves. United also give you free seat reservations and you get 1 x 23kg bag in hold each and meals on transatlantic flights for free too.

Flew last year - they were fine, we had a short layover so they made sure we were off first. Staff were pleasant, but thought they were not as glam as Virgin, planes were older and showing age, IFE was ok, food was poor. Would fly them again, but if Virgin were a bit more I would pay the extra.

we flew with them about 3 years ago and they were dreadful. Lots of flight time changes which impacted on our arrival time. The crew were unhelpful and the food was awful. DH will usually eat anything but couldn’t eat the return meal. All flights are a bit pot luck but we won’t be using them again.

Flew with them last year and it was fine - although gate crew at Chicago were very abrupt. We were delayed from taking off from MCO to Chicago on the way back to Manchester as there was a terrific storm. This meant we couldn't make our connection so while we were flying up eventually, United had booked us onto the next flight with three seats together in the premium section. It showed up in the app as we were in the air. I was very impressed!

last 2 trips we flew united, via EWR, cheapest option for us so that gets my vote
like the fact you can immediately book your seats for free as soon as you have a ref no. food was ok, IFE was ok, planes ok same with most (if not all ) airlines? you sit in a seat for @8 hours & hopefully it goes over quickly and painlessly.. |

Would Never use them again had 5 flight changes in the weeks before departure. Delayed at EWR for 3 hours on the way to MCO then on the way back my husband and son flew via washington a few days before my DD and I as we were staying for the run disney event. Their flight was cancelled they could not get them back to the UK so they had to fly back to me in Orlando for 3 nights. This was April still in dispute for compensation with them. Staff were lovely on board but they are so unreliable, been so many posts on FB with them cancelling flights and not telling people. Oh and they wont give EU compensation

Fly United every year, one of the better operators in my opinion. Done EDI - NEW - MCO and TPA as well via Chicago though that was a longer flight. We did have an issue with one flight cancellation over the years from EDI - NEW - TPA but when we got in touch they got us on a US Airways flight from GLA - PHL - TPA arriving in Tampa at around the initial scheduled time. They even paid us the maximum EU compensation for each passenger and gave us vouchers for future travel.

Must eat humble pie...just got an email to say that united will pay expenses that DS and DD had and refunded the extra leg room seats..took me a few weeks to sort it with them but they came through in the end. Previous to the hassle of the last trip we always used them from BFS and liked them. Last trip the captain came down to see my Cath kidston disney dress his wife was crew and wanted one!

I have flown twice , first time was ok but the second time put us off . My tv didnt work on the way over , luckily I had a book ,but on the way back they had massively overbooked the flight going home and they didnt give seats to two of our party. It was quite stressful at the airport hoping they would be understanding and let us all travel together(especially as the ones who didnt have a seat were aged 16 and 17 ). They kept putting announcements out about people being paid to go later but the offers weren't that generous! Eventually some people took the offers as they upped them , we were the last to board all split all over the plane. However if it was cheap enough I may chance them again.
