Nic, apologies if I've missed what season you travel, we're off peak Nov to May, which, in general, is much cheaper. Last August VA kicked off a sale, paid £687 for VA PE, Man to RSW, via LastMinute, £120 cheaper than VA direct. Monitoring for this winter to see if VA have a sale in August, currently the fare difference atween LM and VA is £118pp.

I don’t think I said but we can go a little before the school holidays as DS will have finished his A levels but we are a bit hampered by OHs colleagues who have already reserved their holidays for 2019 - only 1 out of his shift pattern can be off at any one time, and he works really odd continental shifts. The upshot of this is that we will fly out 29th June and back 15th or 16th July next year. It makes it harder to find savings as we are tied down to more expensive dates. We also have to get our booking in early - since we are so tied to the date. I will keep my eye on Lastminute.com though - thank you for the tip. .

Nic18076 looks like we are similar dates, we fly out on the 27th. I've flown Virgin PE a couple of times now and been impressed, both with seat size and staff/service in general. We flew BA into Tampa a few years back, but not PE, and frankly was not impressed. Staff, both onboard and ground really could not be bothered.
I'm happy to go Virgin again, but I'm really interested in trying Norwegian PE as I've heard good reports of the Dreamliners. I have a price I'm willing to pay in my mind, so first one to get there gets my business.

£500 is only a "good saving" if you are comparing two identical products,
They aren't identical - as a number of posts have said - BA PE is not really worth the money compared to the VA version. What you should compare is how much is the difference between BA econ and BA PE - because they aren't greatly different - but if not too much it is worth it - but at least BA don't charge the same as VA now for PE - I can remember when they did. No I am definitely getting the impression that it’s not comparing like for like. We have never considered premium before so we weren’t aware of the differences. I think at the moment I am swaying to VA premium or even economy delight if premium comes out unjustifiably expensive. I am put off BA by the way they make it quite hard to tell how much paying to choose seats will cost without doing a dummy booking - I don’t like it when companies are not upfront about their costs.
