Correct but £1k for adults and £800 for children is the average price of direct flights at the end of July. Most people will pay this or around this, especially booking early. Just looking at TUI and Thomas Cook shows prices above this currently
If I can get £700 or lower for Adult direct flights from Manchester including baggage then I usually get my credit card out. But these prices are very rare Edited at 05:35 PM. |

My flight dates showed with BA today and the price made my eyes water! Hope the other airlines are more reasonable when they come out.

My dates are almost out and I'm checking each day on a rolling basis. What's bugging me is I can get up to 8th July Dublin - Miami and Orlando- Dublin for about €400(£360) but for the remaining days up to 12th July (330 days from today) it jumps up to €550 (£450).
I'd have expected 9th and 10th to drop a little ... so still waiting...

Where are you getting those prices for Dubling flights? My dates are roughly the same as yours and I’ve been checking Aer Lingus but they are double that price!

I completely agree with you, we are a family of four, but our two sons come under adult fares now, even £700pp direct is too high ( we fly PE for this) we can only travel July/Aug as I work in a School, occasionally we do indirect but often direct, we never pay above £2k total for our flights and I class £500pp as the top end of our budget. It’s knowing when and where to look, utilising airmiles etc. It can be done, we’re also midlands so have lots of options with airports too

Hi SiandAm,
Can I ask who you tend to book with for these kind of fares and how far in advance? Our first time going in school hols next year and normally do PE but think will struggle with a half decent price for this. Would be great to hear your tips! Thanks, Gemma |

Hi, I set up alerts on skyscanner, I do have completely flexible dates (which helps),I'm fairly flexible on routes but won't do indirect via Europe, I follow the posts on the DIBB and usually get alerted to good prices on here.
I book anywhere between Sept and usually Feb, it's just a case of checking and laying with dates. This year our VA flights cost us initially £1500 for the route MAN-MCO-MIA, but we were able to change these 2 weeks before we flew return direct MAN-MCO for an extra £300 total. The routes were initially posted on the Dibb using sky scanner. Upgrades were offered to us for £299 pp but we declined. The year before was a BA fly drive MAN-PHL-MCO but direct on the way home for £369pp including a group W SUV for 3 weeks. I found this deal on here too The year previous was a VA sale and was around £600pp out Ec back PE, again direct. This was just from checking dates in the sales. Keep checking the DIBB and have an open mind about routes and dates and there's usually always good deals to be had.

On Kayak. Not direct but I'm ok with that. In many ways I prefer it (I get antsy sitting for long time) They're actually nice flight times (out in the morning , return on a late evening flight, only adding 2-3 hours to the direct flight times) , with Virgin. Only downside is via UK so you miss out on Dublin immigration.
Aer L was coming in about €800 or €900 alright. To me the saving is worth it as I'm paying for 6 flights!
