Man-Lhr-Mia...

Can anyone settle a family dispute, will we have to collect our luggage in Lhr or will it be tagged to Miami ?
Thanks

If on the same booking you don't collect at LHR. Collect at Miami.

If it’s a through booking, same ticket/airline through to final destination than your bags will be checked through outbound and on the return flight.

You’ll also be able to access the airside bus to T3 - you’re flying this route next year and the LHR - MIA flights departs T3. If you have the same transfer then the airside transfer/connection point is well sign posted. The airside transfer buses are accessed by going down the signed escalators, with a ‘stop’ for each terminals. There are plenty of staff visible too.

The journey takes about 10mins and stopped at one of the T5 satellite terminal - can’t remember which but it was only one stop. It pulled in/picked up then left. No waiting around. You will need to go through a further security check point when you get to T3, there were minimal queues when we did In June. It helps to have any liquids accessible post bus transfer to expediate the process then you enter T3 airside and cen proceed to your departure gate. I think they scanned our tickets but save for that it was a fairly straight forward process.

Thank you both, just as I thought as it is a through ticket. Although we have done various indirect routes for some we have collected our bags and then re-dropped them and others we have not seen it until we have arrived.
With changing terminals the thought of collecting bags was not particularly appealing.

Did this yesterday. Luggage was checked right through and the transfer from terminal 5 to 3 was really straight forward. The way to go for flight connections is very clearly signposted, you get on a bus which takes you between terminals and into security again which was deserted as it’s not the regular security people arriving at Heathrow go through, it’s for connections only. Took us less than 30 minutes from landing to get into the main terminal building.
