Hi. Can I just be really nosey? You don't have to answer, but how have you managed to get all that time off work over the years for your long holidays twice a year. I am so jealous!

lol - thats an easy one!

I retired in January so can go for longer now.

Previously I have jiggled it around and used some lieu days added on to my main holiday - By changing my day off towards the end of the week before we go and then the start of the week when I get back I could stretch it quite a bit. We used to go twice for about 17 days. the trips I did with Barbara were normally long weekends so didnt use any hols
Now I am retired it is lovely to be able to go for as long as we want (or can afford to lol)

We have stayed in a small place called Canmore which is in between Calgary and Banff.
We stayed here at a friends condo nad travelled up and down the Rockies.
A great restaurant in Canmore called The Goat. There is also a world famous dinner show here called Oh Canada!

Not to be missed is Banff and try the cable car ride up to the Banff Gondela up to Sulpur mountain, stunning views, breath taking!
Also Lake Louise, my favourite Lake Moraine, also the boat trip on Lake MinneWanka (pronounced wonka).

The Glacier trip on the Columbian ice fields is a great trip too.

We had booked some white water rafting but this got cancelled due to low water, gutted.

A tip, if you stop to take photos of around every corner of the stunning veiws you may not reach 20 miles in 2 weeks! If you see loads of cars stopped in a weird group there is probably wildlife about.
When driving keep the fuel topped up the fuel stops can be miles and miles apart.

You will have a great time, next time with a trip to Canada I can recommend Air canada flights, the best I have taken and I would not compromise now.

We will spend the first night in Canmore and originally we were going to do the white water rafting in Jasper but think we are chickening out now
Still keeping the horse riding in so far though!
We have prebooked tickets for the glacier and the gondola too

Goat looks good - another one we were considering is the Grizzly Paw

Thanks Mark, they will come in handy for our picnic on the Parkway next day when I drive up to Jasper.
We plan on hitting Walmart in Calgary on our way back to the plane now - better leave some space in my luggage

Sorry one more thing while driving up and down the Trans Canada High way (The only road) the toilets in the pull in areas are just a toilet in a cabin, sometimes no water, so take some paper and hand wash in the car.
