It's Not Disney, It's London ... Day 1
So having done Disney in 05, 06 & 07 and Lapland at Christmas 07 and what with the credit crunch in full swing and SATS back in May, we just couldn't do Disney this year!
So London it was to be - The Taggie Family storm London for a few days! The Cast Hubby: 35 Chief funder and someone who doesn't like heat Me: 37 Chief Planner and much prefers it to be warm and dry Daniel: 11 Planning to take lots and lots of photographs Joshua: 10 Planning to spend lots of birthday money Sunday 27th July We planned to go to London on the train, as it was going to be easier than taking the car and trying to park it. We booked the train tickets in advance to get the most of the cheaper options and with a family rail card and purchasing single tickets it was much cheaper £34.90. We had also booked the Travelodge at Southwark, a bit more expensive than other travelodge's but very close to the centre! Our train was for 12:30, so in the morning we took the cats to the cattery and packed our luggage into a small pull along case and a rucksack, thinking this will be easier for storing in a locker on the last day, how wrong we were! Our train arrived exactly on time We were only on it for one stop as we had to change at the next station. This train was to be 12 minutes late, but actually arrived in Paddington before time, bonus! We went down and got a zones 1-4 x2 adult day travel card and a zones 1-6 child one as Daniel is 11. Total cost £12.80 We caught the tube to Baker Street and then changed to the Jubilee line to Southwark. Our hotel is just down the road 2 minutes from the tube, so perfect location. This hotel officially opened in May 2008! Although there is roadworks outside, this didn't affect us at all! When we originally booked the hotel, we booked Monday to Wednesday through Expedia an then decided after that it would be better to go Sunday, so booked the Sunday direct. This meant we would have to check out on the Monday am and re-check in again straight away, but that was okay as we could keep our room. Our room was on the same floor as reception number 122. This room had a toilet that constantly ran, so we had to be changed to 120 which was opposite and longer! We took a couple of extra pillows out of the first room into the second room. Right, it was now time for the surprise, so back to the tube station to catch the Jubilee line out to Stanmore, well that is where the boys thought we were going to! They saw on the tube map, that we would pass Wembley, so they thought they would look out and see if they could see the stadium! You can see it clearly from the tube, so we said we would get off here and have a quick look! We walked right up to the main doors and then went inside, but still they weren't aware. We went in the store and bought a few souvenirs and then headed upstairs to hand over our tickets and said 'Surprise' Our time for the tour was 5.15pm, so he had to wait for 20 minutes for the tour guide to come. The tour lasts 90 minutes and was well worth the £39.00 we paid for all 4 of us. We got to sit in the seats We got to go in the players changing rooms We got to come out like the players do and sit in the subs area We even got to touch the replica trophy

Outside is a statue of Bobby
It was now 6.45pm and we were starving so headed over to Mcd's for some food. Hubby knows this area well from when he used to come up here for meetings. Afterwards we got the tube straight back to Southwark, arriving at the hotel just after 8pm, so watched Top Gear and Big Brother, before hitting the sack! Day 2
