Hi Jakey, Is that 10% off at Hertz just for AA members?

Yes though I've never had to produce the card.
Given the cheap price you can get for basic AA breakdown cover for if you shop around (£7 or so) and the added benefits for universal it can make sense.

All these sites will provide adequate insurance by default.

Remember the "better" insurance policy actually provides no different cover, just additional drivers and a pre-paid tank of fuel.
I have been wondering about this, a few sites are offering an extra driver free anyway, how much roughly would the fuel cost us if we take the normal insurance? We have always had the car with extra driver and full tank of fuel in the past.

Thanks Jakey. It does sound like it would be a good option. What are the benefits for Universal?

It'll depend on the car type and current fuel price.

Typical tank sizes can be found in the Dibb Wiki on Car Rental, about 1/2 way down.
Hess at DTD are $3.56 currently.

Discount on the hotel for FOTL access, usually the cheapest way for a 1 night stay.
Discount in the park shops and restaurants and some in City Walk, though you might find better deals for CW.

We booked ours through net flights. Jakey also provided me with all the car hire companies to check and he knows his stuff

Hire cars

Just booked mine today for August through Virgin (Alamo) - they're currently offering a free 2nd driver if booked before 31st August.
Prices are very comparable - I got an intermediate SUV for 14 x days for £306.00 which was actually cheaper than any other deal I could find with an extra driver.
