West Coast Trip Report Recommendations Please

Hi all

Currently looking into a Vegas / California trip for April 2021.
Want to do both universal and Disney whilst there.
Could you recommend any TRs that cover this please?
Complete novice at the very early stages of planning.

Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

There’s also a West Coast Trip Report forum here: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=172 and the Index section here: https://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=173

When we were planning our West Coast Trip, I found it a little daunting at times, because there’s so many places you could visit. It’s really hard to narrow it all down and fit it into the days you have available. I read every trip report going and took something useful from every single one of them. They really helped us formulate the ideal itinerary for us - for example I’d never considered Yosemite until I read about it in someone else’s trippie.

Have fun reading them all, and ask as many questions as you like. There will always be someone to help you.

I don’t have a TR, but we did San Fran to Lake Tahoe (amazing) through Death Valley to Vegas to Anaheim to LA. By far the best holiday we ever had, you’ll absolutely love it.

Don't try to cram too much in. It will takes years worth of visits to cover it all and rushing around doesn't do it justice.

Disney can be done in a couple of days, others take 4-5 to do it at a really slow pace. Universal can be done in a day but some tickets have a free return the following day. Those two parks are 60-90 minutes apart so most do a split stay.

You also have Knottsberry park near Disney which is more aimed at younger children and Six flags a bit north of Universal which has the bigger coasters.

Sea World Legoland and a Zoo are all a couple of hours south in San Diego.

Post in the West Coast forum and you will get loads.of help. Length of stay, ages of group must do's and general interests will help us advise further.

Decide how long you want to go for and your must dos. So you are ahead of the game with knowing you want universal, Las Vegas and Disney.

I then usually play around with google maps to see how long the journeys are.

I didn’t do a trip report but our honeymoon we fly into San Fran then Yosemite- Death Valley - Las Vegas- Grand Canyon- Palm Springs- Anaheim (we drove from there to universal which can be hell it was ok for us).

Then hit google and see what there is to do. Visit California is a great resource.
