WOW glad I didn’t go to your school then

Apparently this group of boys are always in trouble at school.
DS is so polite and well mannered and I’m so angry this has happened to him at school where he should be safe!
I hate to read things like this, my son had a similar episode years ago, and it still horrifies me now.
I totally agree with your actions.

If they were in school uniform then it usually does become a school matter (maybe it depends on the school?) When I was at school, a girl assaulted another after school (both still in uniform on there way home), the whole thing caused a scene and the perpetrator was permanently excluded.

I’m so sorry to read what has happened to your Son. Thank goodness a member of the public stepped in to help.

The same type of thing happened to one of my relations. The Police were involved too, they were marvellous (as were the school).

Also I’m so sorry this has happened, there’s a difference between a school fight and an unprovoked attack, this is an unprovoked attack and the boy needs to be spoken too before he causes more damage.

I left school less than ten years ago and this would have been taken seriously, the school I went to had a 0 tolerance policy on this sort of thing.

Happened at least one a week in my school in Staffordshire back in the 90s.

No excuse for it happening, just a statement that it did

That being said our teachers were also pretty good at hitting us for no good reason also...

Teachers hit you in the 90s?
Edit: I’ve just checked when it became illegal and it was 98! I’m really shocked! I left year 11 in 2000 and I’d never known of a teacher hitting a child.

Not a nice incident . Hope your son is Ok.
My response would depend on a few things , namely
- was it inside or outside of the school gates?
- was it one boy that hit him or did the other lads join in in the violence?
- was it just a single hit / quick flurry or was it a sustained attack ?

I remember being hit walking down the street 30 years ago - the only time I can recall being hit - but it was a single blow or maybe two and I certainly never considered ringing the police .

I suspect that the school where my DW works isn’t necessarily typical , but apparently fights at her school are a daily occurrence .

I’m a teacher in what you would call a tough inner city school.

It is wrong to say if the incident is outside the school the school has no involvement. If the pupils were in uniform or if the incident were to cause further trouble in school then the school should be involved.

If this was a pupil of ours we would encourage the police to be called (and have many, many times) This is an intentional assault that has caused injury by three other boys. This is not a scrap between willing participants giving each other a few digs.

What I would want to know is we’re all three boys attacking him as this changes the incident massively.
