I've always had issues with those screw-in wall plugs.
I now always use hollow wall anchors. They do require a setting tool, but it's well worth it. There's a great video on YouTube that compares the strength of various types of fittings. I can't post links but if you search "How to Hang a Heavy Picture on a Plasterboard Wall" it's the first one by Charlie DIYte. |

We have everything hung with the Rawl plugs that have ‘wings’ and haven’t had any issues.

Grip it plasterboard fixings. Can get them from screw fix or Amazon.
