According to Dr Hilary, people that are hoping to go on holiday this summer are "barking up the wrong tree" I hope he's wrong! 😕

I try and look at it like I managed to get a holiday to Kos last year... with no vaccine, the treatments weren’t as good and the testing protocol in airports wasn’t available. If I don’t get to the US this year, that’s ok, we’ll do another European break - but for him to say holidays won’t happen at all is just playing to the doom and gloom narrative!

I was a bit down about Dr. Hillary this morning. But actually he might be right, he might be wrong, he's a celebrity GP, not a public health expert. If the US do get 100m jabs in 100 days and we get everyone offered the jab by September then hubby and i probably will be vaccinated before August because we're so old!

I don't know, I'm not booking anything that can't be moved but I think there's still a chance for travel in August.

I agree. I seem to remember him saying the same just before holidays started up last year; so while I respect his profession, I probably wouldn’t ask him for the lottery numbers 😂

I’ve not given up on our August trip yet. The only thing that would stop us is outdoor mask wearing.

I saw this. I imagine he will not be very popular with the travel industry this morning😀

Well just moved our May to Sept, flights were paid for so not a lot of option with an end date of April 2022 I'm almost afraid to say what I think as I was supremely confident last June, when I booked, that by May we would be in a totally different place! Now waiting for a hotel refund, less 30%, as no longer need it & expecting a voucher for our car hire.

I was more concerned with Dominic Raab in the media yesterday saying people shouldn't be looking at holidays. As foreign secretary it probably shows that the foreign office is unlikely to change their travel guidance any time soon. That and the rumours of a hotel quarantine put me off booking anything at this time. They seem to have stepped up the border control and there are a few barriers that need removing now before we can go in August

I saw this too but even all the travel 'experts' last year were saying there would be no holidays last summer, and they were obviously wrong! So I don't really listen to anyone anymore as no one really knows!

Holidays were logistically easiest during summer 2020 so I’d think it would be the same for 2021. I think the biggest concern though is new variants and closing down borders again. But if you go down that thought tunnel then where does it end?
