August 2021 backups

Hi all

We have never been to WDW before and were supposed to go to POFQ in August 2020 with ATD.

We decided to move our deposit to August 2021 and got a really deal for AOA. In the black Friday sale we decided to take a risk and booked flights with BA (really good price) with the flexibility of being able to move the flights if August 2021 is a no go. We didn't want to get priced out if/when the rules change regarding travel.

I am now slightly worried as if we can't go in August the only other options are Christmas 2021 or Easter 2022 (I have to go during school holidays and the BA flexibility ends Easter 2022.) I just had a look at the prices for Christmas 2021 and they look very pricey compared to what we've paid in August

Anyone in the same position and concerned about their options? Obviously the price for Easter 2022 is not up yet but i'm guessing they won't be cheap!

Yes- same here. I'm currently thinking that we may have to swap flight deposit to a flight to Edinburgh or another European city.

Yeah we were thinking of maybe doing that. The only things that would stop me from going would be not having the jab (I should have had both by August...) or if I had to quarantine (in USA or UK)...Or if flights were cancelled (in which case we'd get a refund as long as we don't duck out for a voucher before then!)

I am still glad I took the risk. Hoping we get some more clarity in the next few months!

Me too. We decided it was a risk worth taking but we won't go if it's not right. As you say if flights are not on then we would be refunded anyway. If they fly and we don't feel comfortable about the US, hopefully we can swap to something closer to home.

We’re due to go 18 July. I’ll go if I can, probably will cancel Disney though. I should have had the jab by then but kids wont. I’m also prepared to isolate each end as long as we can do it in a villa, but we’re going for 4 weeks. Expecting to have to get negative tests before flying but who knows?

We are in the same boat too. Stuck with school holidays and, whilst Easter weather sounds appealing, I don’t fancy the crazy crowds.
Add to that the distinct possibility of much higher demand in 2022, and I don’t feel hopeful we would be able to afford it.
I’m not giving up on this August yet, but we might end up swapping to somewhere in Europe if we are pushed back to next year 🤷🏼

we have a month booked this august, both work in schools, so it would be a 12 month rollover ( for 2nd time) having all previous holidays cancelled, we are booked up till Easter 2022, if our canaries trip at Easter cancelled that will be a 12 month delay or might get jet2 . The its not looking good for vegas in may/june ht.
still got the tent for camping as back up in case, sunny Wales here we cme no doubt the way its going!
