Anyone booked a last minute August trip?

Due to different circumstances we are not able to plan our usual trip for the second half of August. We will not know if we can go until July so would only be a month before trip.
Has anyone done this before and what are your experiences. Accommodation wouldn’t be a problem I guess, just the availability of flights.

I think if you are happy to consider indirect you can often pick up flights, even for August

In August 2018 (I didn’t check last year) there were some real bargain packages with tui for last couple of weeks in August, might have been returning first few days in September.

I booked 2 days before last August for 13th - 26th Aug. It was not cheap...in fact, the prices were going up by the hour. We went direct with Virgin.
