Shocked by UK holiday prices

I can’t believe the prices I’m seeing for a self catering break in the UK
A few nights in a cottage for £2,000 another I’ve just seen nearer the beach £6000!
Caravans also coming up really expensive too, maybe I’m out of touch with UK prices as normally go abroad
Making a Disney trip look reasonable

Is that in school holidays?

We could have cheaper U.K. holidays if every person took a pay cut. Smh

I must admit to watching a few episodes of 4 in a bed whilst on furlough
The prices some of them charge is eye watering!
Posh glamping the other day was £362 per night, based on a 3 night minimum stay.I just can’t believe the prices, abroad for me every time I’m afraid!

Yep. I looked at spending 4 nights in Sandbanks for my sons birthday in August. We were supposed to go to California and Hawaii for 4 weeks but that has been postponed until next year so we thought this might be nice instead. For 4 of us in one room (leaving 3 adult kids behind) it was almost £2k

I’m just not doing it! Sitting on the M25/M3 for most of the day each way to get there and back. The diesel, money spent when down there etc. We would normally stay with my family that live there but as that isn’t an option, we won’t be going.

We are going to Disney in October for £1200 instead

Granted, that’s with air miles, £1000 pre loaded on FairFX left over from our last trip, already paid for and used APs and banked DVC points, but we are flying Clubworld & staying at Beach Club for 11 nights and it’s costing us less out of pocket than 4 nights in Sandbanks (which we love, but just can’t justify).

A UK break is so expensive

There are plenty of cheaper holidays in the UK. £2k for a couple of nights in a mansion is not really typical

Your Holiday would be about £7k+ without all the air miles and DVC 😀

I would understand if it was a mansion
This is for a basic cottage with no garden

Supply and demand though with a captive audience and months of no bookings / loss of rental income to catch up on. At the end of the day people love their holidays so will pay, despite the displeasure of the prices.

I’ve always holidayed in the Uk and my budget is around £850 mark and never struggled to find anything for August

There will be inflated prices this year due to supply and demand.
