My daughter works at Primark but they can’t transfer her job to one close to whichever university. Which is a shame because that money would be so good for her.

The price of halls is ridiculous isn’t it? Student loans are paid to coincide with the rent due date so for my kids it was literally in one hand and out the other! I also top up the rent shortfall and give my DS £50 per week for food etc - a lot of Dibbers give more but both my kids managed on £50.

Excited about Disney
|
My DD ‘did’ her a levels this summer. She had started her ucas form last year for business courses when she had a change of heart and decided she wanted to do maths. She discovered that quite a few unis wanted further maths which wasn’t an option at her school. She submitted to unis that didn’t and got offers but had her heart set on London so decided to stay home for a year. She’s doing now doing further maths and is waiting for her old school to complete the ucas reference. As a parent I can’t say I’m unhappy with the way things turned out.

With the current situation my daughter is struggling to get a proper feel of the universities she has narrowed down.
Do you think it is worth driving to them and seeing the area etc I assume we won’t be able to walk around the grounds? |

I loved the campus and accomodation at Edgehill when we looked round with DD a few years ago.

Trying for More Ears
|
I’ve taken my DD to Lincoln today to look at the Uni, we wandered around the campus to try and get a feel for it and where in relation it is to the city etc, found it quite useful and glad we went even though we couldn’t go in any of the buildings (she’s got a virtual tour booked for November though). We’ve had similar trips to 3 other Uni’s and it is helping us with the decision on which ones to list.
