Caribbean Beach Resort expansion and Old Port Royal closure for refurbishment
This thread has been automatically created, because the original thread had over 500 posts.
CBR - refurbishment/building work Here's what we know about it so far: Old port Royal - the hub of the resort to close for a total refurb 1st May 2017. Facilities that will be shut: •Food court •Shutters table service restaurant, •Calypso trading shop •Concierge and recreation areas of Old Port Royale •Banana Cabana bar(situated just outside of OPR) •Barbados and Martinique villages to be 'unavailable' from May 2017 Building work noise may be heard between either 9am until dusk(from recent e-mail) or 9am until 4pm(from original e-mail) And while they work their 'magic' over the coming months: •Centertown(a large marquee style tent) will serve a Caribbean buffet breakfast and a la carte dinner •a wide selection of grab-and-go meals will be available in the island markets of Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique. •Guests can refill their resort mugs with beverages from Coca-Cola freestyle machines which will be available throughout the resort. Room pizza delivery will still be available •Guests will receive $25 per room per night gift card on checking in at hotel •At the moment guests are able to transfer to POR without charge while keeping their existing offers that they received at time of booking(dining plans, gifts cards) As far as I know, no opening/closing times available, or times that drinks will be able to be refilled or menus available. Plans have been submitted to build a multi storey building on land where Barbados and part of Martinique villages currently sit, and to work on roads and waterways. Work will continue until 2019 - no confirmed end date. Have I missed anything? The original thread was located HERE. The first post was... Edited at 02:07 PM. |

OMG, is this part 3 or 4? I've lost count. Anyone gearing up to phone Disney this morning? I'm not good with pictures, but surely somewhere there's one of a skeleton holding a phone? Papamouse, your mission, if you choose to accept it...

What's everyone doing today? We collectively spent 7 hours on the phone yesterday to be told POR or $25 and I've done both PO so asked for another mod and was told no.
Then I see people being moved everywhere! SSR is no good for us as I have two kids, 1 who's 12 and won't do a sofa bed with his sister. We are actually two bookings - a total of 4 adults, 2 children. Do we have any other options? Decided to defo go for a move as the stress just isn't worth it. If it's PO or $25 we are going to cancel and get a villa I think.

Going slightly off thread...
When we book in, where should we be hoping to stay. Youngest is 5 so would like to be near to a bus stop as I imagine we maybe carrying him at night! |

Are you calling separately about both bookings? If so I would just make sure one of you calls with both reference numbers, it might just give you some clout.
Maybe call tomorrow and ask to be escalated to a manager in guest care. Personally though if it was me I would cancel and book a villa and some time at the beach and universal - that's just me though.. Good luck |

Looks like those who booked with Virgin should receive an email/letter by lunchtime tomorrow offering move to either PO or Coronado.

Got my amended invoice with €65 off each night. I called Thursday and got $75 off each night and then rang Friday evening and changed it to €65/ £50 off the room

Very annoyed!
Got my "revised" invoice and although it's less than I would have paid for POFQ it's still more than I was going to pay for CBR! Have shot off another email, with my original invoice for CBR and asked them to change it! It looks like they've not applied the the free night offer I originally had CBR. If I get an email telling me to phone I'm going to scream!

Finally got through after 5hrs of waiting yesterday. Customer Services played down building works and would not budge on $25 per day or FOC move to PO. Not sure I believed them but they said higher offer was supposed to be aimed at those traveling and staying prior to June. In June new large restaurant would be open, i questione ABTA, they said it would only apply if they were not offering the same level of facilities and because of the new restaurant and other stands etc being brought in they were actually offering more! Moved to PO but not happy, if I had wanted that resort I would have booked that in the first place. It's the double standards and 5hr wait for me which has been so stressful, i expected more from my Disney experience!
