we're only stopping onsite for 7 nights so hardly seems worth it for just $60 but DH says we might as well take it if offered as I tidy up and clean anyway

We'll take it if it's offered. We always put the do not disturb sign on the door when we arrive and ask at reception for whatever we need anyway.

In comparison to the total cost of your holiday, I think its a small amount not to have your room cleaned each day. 14 days (even a week) not cleaned, yuk.
Where do you stop with small savings like this. 'Would you like a $60 voucher if you clean your own plates for a week', 'Would you like magical express or walk and save $40', 'would you like to swim in the clean pool or the pool that hasn't been cleaned in a month and get $10'. What about a $200 gift card if you don't have your room cleaned after the previous guest.
Mousekeeping must hate this idea, loosing out on tips. Where they make more in tips than their basic pay.
Again, 14 days without the toilet being cleaned, the floor hovered, sinks wiped... seriously. Spend the best part of £4000-£6000 and happy to get £100 on a gift card to not have the basic essentials. Think of all the extras you have probably paid for like selecting seats on your flights.

I dunno - that just sounds like life at home with 3 teenagers, using public transport (may as well walk) and going to public swimming pools. Nice to be paid for it for a change!

I see this as well, if you have a villa/Condo you have all the stuff to clean as you would at home but not in a hotel room. Surely it takes them longer to clean the room after staying 2 weeks with no cleaner as well. The rooms must be minging sometimes. I’ve seen premier inn rooms when the cleaners go in and I’d be ashamed to leave the room in some of the states I’ve seen.
They are offering big sign on bonuses for housekeeping as they just don’t have enough staff apparently.
