Do you like your first name?

No, never have. My dad and big brother chose it. I feel it is a very harsh sounding name but dh loves it. Dh likes the shortened version of his name which everybody call him but only one person was allowed to call him his proper name and that was his mum. He gets really annoyed when he tells people his name and they insist on calling him the lengthened name.

I do like being Lynda with a y instead of an i. Always get spelt wrong though as does my surname.

I hated mine when I was younger, my name is Shona so a good Scottish name but I like it now as it is quite unique - you don't meet many Shona's.

Don’t really like my name (Angela) like Angie even less. DH family called me Angie for years. Was a bit tipsy at a family party after we’d been married 20 odd years and told them I didn’t like it and preferred Ang which is what most call me now.

It’s not offensive just dull

My auntie didn’t like hers ( Shirley ) so changed it by deed poll to Stephanie which suits her more as she is quite flamboyant

I do think sometimes people’s names can affect their personality - I think people expect people with certain names to be outgoing and others with more traditional names to be more introverted
