Mobile Urgh ... lovely welcome home... NOT!

Returned from a lovely ( slightly extended) holiday in Orlando to the most awful smell ...
Both freezers had defrosted and all the food had gone off 😷😷...
My mum and dad had been keeping as eye on the house and had cleared away the rotten food and cleaned the kitchen fridge freezer but had forgotten about the freezer under the stairs... 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Steaks, chicken breast , salmon fillets and joints of pork have all gone in the bin... it was choking...
I can’t bring myself to try and clean it yet.. it’s going to have to go in the garden tomorrow and I’ll try then ...
Anyone got any really good effective cleaning solutions?
The downstairs sockets tripped and it took dh until 7.30pm to figure the problem and fix it😦😦 not what you want when you get in from holidays ☹️☹️
Tonight’s dinner was long gone... I’d made curry before we went for ease, so chippy it was ( as if we haven’t eaten out enough!
Guess il be doing more shopping tomorrow too. Think I’ll be definitely running the both down before holiday next year

Hubby said if you still have an issue with smell use sodium bicarbonate as it's really could at getting rid of odour. Put a small tub in each drawer and shut the door.

Thank you both x

Mum scrubbed it the other day and I’ve done it again today and rinsed/ wiped it out with white vinegar ...
Need to buy more bicarbonate tomorrow ... have the small freezer to attempt 🤮😷 I’m really not looking forward to that so much so I just want to chuck it 🤭

This happened to us on our return from Florida this year too. The smell is horrendous - we tried bicarb- lemons - deodorisers - coffee granules - dish washer fresheners ... we put every part of the fridge freezer in the dishwasher - still smelt. We had two carbon filters in the fridge freezer and they stunk soooo much - we've ordered 2 new ones and at last the smell has gone!

Would also suggest bicarbonate scrubbed in with half lemons.

😱 do you mean you ordered new filters or fridges 😀...

We’ve got a drinks dispenser and ice machine so I hope they’ll be ok ...
Didn’t think of lemons tho ... guess that’ll be next on the list
