Murphy’s Law again!

My 88 year old sis-in-law got up this morning at 5:30 to be at the hospital for 7am. She was to have an operation to remove a cataract. Her sight is bad generally, she cannot see a wrist watch no matter how big, she cannot see the TV, she cannot read. She can see colours so flowers are her friends.

She she was prepped for theatre and at the last minute was told they could not do it because of an emergency.

She is not in the best of health having had an operation a few years ago because of bowel cancer. She has been waiting for this op for months and is very nervous about it.

I know the emergency takes precedence and I hope that patient is OK. But Sod’s Law it had to be today.

That’s horrible to happen to your sister in law, you get yourself ready and then it doesn’t happen!

Hopefully they can do it soon and she can enjoy looking at things again xx

I'm sorry to hear that happened it must have been a very stressful experience for her I hope they manage to get it done soon.

I was in hospital a couple of weeks ago and this poor older lady in the bed opposite was waiting to go down for surgery she was all prepped and ready to go but they kept pushing it back due to emergencies -she ended up waiting over 24hrs

Just recently had a cataract op and had to wait over ten months to get it done.
Hope they make her another date very quickly. Also, please do tell her the thinking about it is far worse than the op itself. Xxxx

Has she been re-scheduled? Is there any possibility of having it done privately?
