FV... tried explaining last year, hubs/I have pp's with additional months applied, some shouted it down, adamant the pp office only applied days/months required to make a pp valid for exactly 10 years.
Family friend owns a coach company that tours Europe. Altho it's been years since we saw him, he'd encourage his drivers to reapply circa two weeks before pp expiry as they benefited from 10+ years from pp issue date, but again that was pooh poohed *shrugs*...

A passport costs around £80 with checks and postage so that is £8 per year or 67p per month if your husband would be happier with it renewed is it worth say £2 to get it renewed 3 months early ? Sure legally you don’t need it but then you don’t need seat reservations or IFE but these are things that make your holiday more enjoyable if it makes you husband happier renew it before you go.
