Delayed flights

Just been informed our 12pm LGW-TPA flight tomorrow is delayed by 3.5hrs due to a late arriving aircraft 😫

How can they tell the plane will be late already? Could it be delays today they think will affect it?

HI. Almost certainly due to known issues surrounding the crew or maintenance etc.

I see you are on the BA2167. The BA website says delayed until 15.26

If you’re travelling on this flight, and we haven’t contacted you, please check in and make sure you are at the airport in time for the original scheduled departure time, because we are doing everything possible to improve the delay.

The flight leaving Tampa tonight is showing as being on time so they are swapping aircraft around which all carriers do.

However, screenshot all the info online and keep your texts etc. This will all help with your compensation claim.

I think that it probably is today’s flight that’s affected 😭so annoying I know, but have a great holiday anyway, maybe you’ll get some compensation to help 🙊

Not good,hopefully the delay is less by tomorrow or at least you get compensation to soften the blow a little,but I understand this doesn't help now!.we are on this flight next month,hopefully anyway unless the strike affects it!

At least they have told you so you can be prepared and take a book or something to occupy your time. You can browse the duty free and shops properly

i see that this mornings arrival from JFK is running 4hr 45 late. perhaps this is the aircraft that's causing the inconvenience as it on the 777 rotation for BA at LGW

Yes, that aircraft is scheduled to operate another LGW-JFK-LGW rotation today, and then LGW-TPA-LGW tomorrow.

However, the current expected delay on the OP’s flight is now reduced to 30 mins, since the aircraft will be turned round quickly at LGW today, reducing the delay to JFK today and therefore also the potential delay to TPA tomorrow.

Of course, it could all change again, but the aircraft is now in the air JFK-LGW, possible that at the time of the previously advised delay for TPA, a longer delay was envisaged for today’s flights. Hopefully it all goes ok.

OP - even if the expected delay gets longer again, please heed the airline advice to get to the airport based on scheduled departure time, unless the airline has contacted you to advise otherwise. Especially at hubs, airlines can shift aircraft around and reduce/eliminate delays.

Thanks all for the advice. The delay came down to an hour planned departure was 12 and we left around 1.20ish.

Captain said we'd make the time up but then there was unexpected wind in the wrong direction at Tampa so had to divert and come in from the south then there was a massive storm so had to circle for a while but we got here safe a sound.

Not sure if flying into Tampa was any quicker 3 hours from landing to orlando
