A Level result day

We would like to go away for a few days after result day in the uk, do we need to be available for anything re uni or will that all have been done Thursday and Friday ?

It should all be done by the Friday. Even the people in my year (finished A Levels 2 years ago) that went through clearing were sorted by the weekend. If all goes well then it's just a case of any email correspondence eg accommodation depending on the uni. Good luck for their results!

Depends if you need clearing or not. That can take a bit longer. Assuming that’s not the case check what you need to do for accommodation first job and if you’re fighting for one of not many parking spaces deal with that pronto too. I can’t remember now if you have to tell student finance where the place is. I think you do.

We are going away for a long weekend at the Bank Holiday weekend to the Cotswolds. That gives DD a week before to sort out any University related admin etc. She won’t have any bedding etc as her uni accommodation isn’t allocated until the week after results and there are various bed sizes depending on which room she gets, but there is a whole month between the results and moving in so plenty of time to get bedding etc even after a break away. We have started getting some things like kitchen and room equipment ready.

We felt the weekend away will be a good way to celebrate (I hope 😀 ) the results too.

It should all be done Thursday/Friday but I have a friend who had to rearrange a pre-booked holiday to fit in clearing visits to universities that they hadn’t previously looked at. There was also accommodation etc to sort out and they were all in a bit of a state of shock as the results were unexpected. A bit of preplanning might be a good idea, just in case.

Thank you all for reassuring me , I’ve now booked for going Sunday , he’s decided he’s staying at home anyway ( after we had looked at tonnes of accommodation ! ) and he’s got an unconditional he’s happy with as a back up if he doesn't get his first so I think we are pretty much sorted , finance is done , just bank account to open next week or so. It’s the uk so can use email or hone if needs be.

The other thing to be mindful if is of the course is modular there will be an online rugby scrum to choose options. My DS was in Greece on a lads trip and missed the email by about 24 hours, by the time he got to it the modules he wanted to do had filled up and he had to go with 4th 5 th and an unwanted choice.

So as long as the uni folks have your personal (non school email) address and the kids have done whatever online activity needed by the uni, they should be able to receive the updates on actions to be taken irrespective of whether they are home or away.

Realistically though in most instances it must be unlikely that they will be able to do this soon after the results as they may still be filling some posts through clearing.
Either way, worth keeping eye on emails.
