Where to put the money?

I did just see Virgin are doing a new saving account for 1 year which doesn't pay cash on the interest but convert's it to Virgin Atlantic airmiles, I know I would probably do that to top up mine

I've had around that much in Savings Bonds for just over 4 years. I've had 6 x £25 and a £100 win, and you can draw it out whenever you want.

I've just been on the Premium Bonds FB page - the most recent million pound winner won it with a premium bond he bought in 1956

1year fixed bond, 2%.
Mrs O and I had the maximum holding of premium bonds a few years ago. In three years we won a total of £150. Cashed them in and put it into bonds.

In all seriousness I would split it. Put £7/8k locked away and then keep the rest in a savings account and don’t get online access to it! Then you can’t transfer it which would stop me spending it.

If you didn’t have it, you’d need to find the money for any emergencies anyway so I would definitely lock a bigger chunk away.
