Wow, stunning thank you so much. I will be making him a shortlist and they can decide. Well his Partner will as she is better than him on this type of thing!

We love the Andaz (5th Ave) at Bryant Park. Big spacious room with huge shower room & chill out lounge area, no reception desk as staff are in their black Armani outfits situated around the foyer with their iPads ready to check you in electronically or answer any questions & offer you a welcome glass of wine.
Free snack & drinks in room, complementary wine in reception for pre dinner/theatre drinks and free coffee, snacks and fruit in reception throughout the day.

Holiday Inn Manhattan Chelsea 6th AVE.
Perfect location for everything.

If staying over a weekend they should consider Coney Island.

And if they have any free time head out on the train on the Ploughkeepsie line- out over the Hudson and West point and the scenery is like the Scottish Highlands only 1/2 hour outside of NYC .

Is there anywhere you would recommend stopping for a couple of hours on the Poughkeepsie line?

The Knickerbocker just by Times Square/Bryant Park is amazing. The rooms are beautiful, big and has a fabulous bathroom. They also have a gorgeous rooftop terrace and bar overlooking Times Square. Its very cool and trendy.

This is the view a few weeks ago of the Times Square ball.

Hi

We went up to Beacon as my cousin lives there.

At one point the railway line is only inches above the Hudson!

Beacon is a fabulous town - its very much a haven for artists - they have a glass blowing factory there, lots of galleries and lovely coffee shops.

I think the previous 2 stops are very good for walking activities - lots of people got off there for the day.

Its an hour from Central Station but in reality it feels like a different planet!
I know people dont go to NYC to go walking but its soo different and such a short journey away if anyone has a spare few hours its definately worth it.

Stayed at The London a couple of times which is West 54th just down from Central Park. It was fabulous, rooms are superb, mostly small suites.

Real quality hotel in our view.

Hope they have a great time.

We stayed at the marmara park ave on 32nd st and the luma on 41st, by Bryant Park, would stay at either again but for service and the room size would opt for the marmara which has a pool in the basement and a roof top bar.

Some really good suggestions coming on here thank you all.

I will make him a shortlist and his Partner can decide.

I loved NY and to this day remember popping into a Hilton for a drink (nothing changes) and seeing Pinchas Zukerman playing in the foyer. Awesome
