I was the same first time, apprehensive but excited

After a day and once you have your travel card like suica then you realise it is very easy!

The apprehension very quickly disappears and even if you can’t take the plunge for Japanese dining you can easily get fast food

Just please and thank you in Japanese will get you by

Any questions please just ask! This forum is the only place people ask me about japan

No one else ever asks me a thing like family or friends!

That’s the trick for me
Knowing what to do , when and how
My wife would not plan anything ever , but for me it’s too far away with a different language and culture to just turn up and work it out

I really believe we got the best out of our trip and look back and feel well chuffed with what we did

The trip to Hokkaido was a true highlight but with planning you could just not turn up and do that
