Mobile University offers

DS has just had 2 unconditional offers through this week - one for York and one for Staffordshire. The courses are almost identical and now he is really confused as he doesn’t know which to go for. Any advice in what to be thinking about when making the decision?

I love York so probably for all the wrong reasons I'd pick that

Has he been to the open days? Look on TSR (The Student Room) see what is being said about both places.

Ultimately, it will be his decision as to where feels right for him. Travelling distance, accommodation, things to do nearby. These all factor in the decision making process.

My youngest was accepted at Anglia Ruskin and was determined to go there, I made a last minute plea for him to just look at one more Uni, so at least he could say he had looked, and he much preferred the 2nd one.

hope this helps a bit

just a thought, but perhaps look at the things that would affect his funds if the courses are the same>
Rental
Costs for travel if using public transport to and from home
general living costs
Crime rates (for his insurance)

just to see if there is any glaring differences

York is a Russel group Uni, is the other one?
I think this is something really worth considering.

Which York uni? Accommodation both on campus and off is very expensive!

Now that he has received offers he should be invited to applicant days.
My daughter has signed up for these at the 5 unis that have made her offers.
I think that they are more focused on the course that he wants to study than the open days are, so may help him to choose?

What course? Have you looked at Unistats? Accommodation in Stoke is definitely cheap and the Station is right next to the campus. Some courses at Staffs are well thought of and a lot of work is being put into employability

Dd is at university of York in her 2nd year, one consideration was that the accommodation (halls) are on campus. She loves it there, yes the accommodation is expensive but she’s now in a house share which has brought the cost down. Check out how his course rates at both and go for the higher one! We love going to visit.
