Does anyone own an expensive designer handbag?
Hi,
I have always wanted a designer handbag and have been steadily saving for a small Gucci bag by doing extra shifts at work (I'm a nurse). I have saved up enough now, but it feels wrong to buy it, as though there are much better ways to spend that amount of money. I don't spend money really - I tend to do a clothes shop twice a year - winter and summer and go out for a drink or meal but that's it. Most of our money tends to go on holidays, which is usually a 'money is no object' type - I have no problem justifying spending money on holidays. However, I've never spent more than £50 on a bag and I'm worried I might regret it or feel bad about it. My question is - has anyone spent a large amount of money on a handbag and later regretted it? Or were you able to justify it and feel good about it? Edited at 10:44 PM. |

I don't think what you buy is that relevant but the fact it's something you have always wanted, worked hard and saved for is... you should treat yourself, you deserve it

I have a large LV Neverfull which was a huge splurge for me a few years ago and not regretted it once! I don’t spend lots each pay day so this was really a treat and I think with that level of designer, like LV or Gucci or Chanel you’re buying an investment. Keep the box, bag, little cards etc and if you want to sell it in the future you’ll get back almost what you paid.
I buy a lot of Coach bags now which I usually get from the Millenia store in Orlando and they’re not as much as the really high end ones, but still love my LV. Go ahead and buy it...it’s an investment like art

I have two mulberry bags which I love and use
To me they are investments and I probably would have bought lots of cheaper bags that I would have used for a shorter period of time so I’m actually saving money in the long run 😂😂 I do however regret buying expensive sunglasses as my dd s dog destroyed them last week 😭😭😭 |

I have and I don’t regret it. Don’t worry about what anybody else says - it’s your money so enjoy what you work hard for.
Only advice would be to try and buy a classic style rather than something seasonal. Also rather than buy online go into a boutique, you will get a better feel for it |

I have one. The one piece of advice I would give is ... if you want it and you have saved for it - buy it - you deserve it - but make sure you use it - I had regret for my purchase as it just sat in the wardrobe in it’s dust bag. I made a real effort to make sure I use it and now I love it - wish I had two 😉

I agree with Coggie. If you’ve worked hard for your money and saved it and the bag is what you want then you deserve it.
I love Tory Burch bags and I do buy myself one every couple of years but I use it every day for work and they do last a lot longer that a cheaper bag. The one I’m currently using I’ve had for 4 years and it’s finally going and will need to be replaced on our next trip to the outlets at Xmas.

I brought a Disney Dooney and Bourke 4 years ago. Before that I'd never spend more than £30 quid on a bag. I've had it 4 years now and use it everyday. Lasted much longer than cheap bags, plus I love it. It was worth it.

I have a couple of nice MK & Kate spade bags but last year treated myself to a Chanel one. Love it! I work hard, the kids have everything they need & like you don't spend a huge amount on myself. Sometimes a treat is just what you need.
