Changing our plans again for the 20th time after reading this thread

We have 2 seperate nights on Universal so think we will do early entry to VB on the 2nd day of both nights and scrap our day visit we had planned as seems pointless by the sounds of it.

For sure. 30 minutes is my balk point with the kids. That being said, there is no opportunity to say, virtually queue for one ride and physically queue for another which would be super but would negate their system

Update however: did exactly what the previous poster (and others)suggested
Got to the parking at 18.05 (so no charge) and in the park entrance by 18.40 (we were parked in King Kong as the entrance to VB parking was closed).
Managed to ride everything, with some things twice,with zero wait within 90 minutes.
It had poured about 3pm for at least an hour so that had probably cleared out the park. Success!
