Historically we've found the richest seams to be at either the WDW parking or at DS when it used to be all surface parking. We don't go to the parks now and, of course, you don't see too many walking through Orange and Lime garages.

AMI and other gulf coast places would be good in the snowbird season for New England plates. Walmart car parks are good for long distance trucks.

Joan's app is simply called "State plates". It was free for Joan a few years ago but you can probably pay to enhance.

I think there's dozens to choose from though

I think there's also one called "states and plates" which has a map and fills in the state as you find it.

I use an App called "Plates Free". It included "Bonus" plates like many of the specialty ones people pay extra for like sports teams, colleges or charities. Some don't exist in Florida. It also includes Canada and Mexico. I have spotted Puerto Rico but aren't holding out much hope for American Samoa!

Of the 51 states plus DC I am only missing Wyoming. Funny how no one else mentioned that one. There are only 500k people in the whole state so I am quite surprised everyone else seems to have seen it. I have seen Hawaii and Akaska more than once. I have been looking for a few months but don't usually have a co pilot who can actually read the plates as my daughter is really struggling with her vision! I expect Orlando is probably the best place in the US for spotting everything except the Mexican ones as the West Coast will be far better for that.

Wyoming at 9 over 21 records would have been next on my list of rare ones in post #22. Actually got it in April somewhere between Lake Howard in Winter Haven and Lake Apopka in Winter Garden - that was the extent of our travels that month.

Joan's app records time and date but sadly no inbuilt GPS to say where we were.

What a great game, will do this on our next trip

In 1993 on our first Road Trip my husband had the bright idea to collect actual number plates, it took him 15 years to collect all 50 we purchased them all on our USA travels.

We then decided to collect USA State Motorcycle Plates so far we have 35 our rarest being Alaska ( which was our most expensive to date )
The motorcycle plates are harder to find but we will continue looking on our travels.

We also have a full set of mini plates from the 70's when children collected tokens from cereal boxes and sent off for the plate of their choice, they were for bicycles.
I bought the complete set at Daytona Bike Week a few years ago.

All our plates were purchased in the USA so we have to keep going back to complete our collection don't we ?

Just told hubby about the Washington DC plate so thats another to look out for.

Collecting actual quarters is much cheaper. Our entire collection only cost $12.50 excluding the folder we keep them in.
