I have only got an automatic licence and have never regretted it. We have also had an automatic car, no problems. If you need to hire a car, firms always have automatic choices.

I'm only 32 and hold a automatic license, I was with 5 different manual instructors and just couldn't get the hang of the gears took auto lessons and passed my test within 4 months of starting my lessons, I don't regret it one bit, I also drove in Florida 10 months after passing my test, just call the car hire company and they will be able to tell you.

Autos are great, I have driven manual cars and motorcycles for over 40 years and DW for 20. We have both now converted to autos. I drive a 2l mondeo diesel and get 40mpg around town and DW drives a Honda Jazz and gets 41 mpg.

The first auto car I drove in the UK was a BMW 330 Sport which went like stink. You can have both auto and performance.
