Mobile Ebay help/advice

I sell quite alot on ebay and recently i sold a 'DASH' infinity figure,
I received an email today to say a case has been opened as item was not as described, and a message say he was damaged and broke off the base.
I replied with a refund once item is returned,
But in terms of the damaged item, can i take this up with royal mail? As the item was not damaged when i sent it.
It was sent second class standard mailing.

I presume the answer will be no, but thought you dibbers may know a bit more

Yes you can open a claim for damage but Royal Mail may well ask to see the packaging to make sure it was adequate so you will need some photo's of it from the buyer.

Royal Mail will probably ask for pics of the damaged item too and may also contact the buyer to confirm it was actually broke etc.

How much was the item sold for though because 2nd class compensation isn't that much.

Also bear in mind you will have to reimburse the buyers postage cost for returning the item. I usually just ask them to send photos.

Tbh for £5 i wouldn't bother starting a actual claim... but i would tell the buyer you require pics of the broken item and tell her Royal Mail will be in contact with her over it...

If she's telling the truth she'll be happy to agree.

Another dibber did this a few weeks ago over a supposed missing parcel, once she told the buyer Royal Mail would be contacting her the parcel turned up.. funny that !

I once had a buyer complain that what he bought was damaged. I asked him oh-so-nicely for pics of the damage. ... Never heard from him again.

Ask for pics of the item in bits then give a refund.
