Virgin Atlantic Passengers - Public Service Announcement.
The In Flight Entertainment on Virgin Atlantic is TOUCH screen, I repeat TOUCH screen. Both my wife and myself had to suffer 8 hours each way because the people behind us were using what felt like their forehead to play games. I repeated asked them to be more gentle as we were not able to get any rest but in both flights these people decided to carry on bashing their screens. I myself had a problem with my IFE as it would not change volume, but a simple request to the stewardess to restart my screen solved the problem straight away, so if they had a similar problem they could have had it resolved.
I am willing to bet that they have to take any phones they have back for repair repeated times as they failed to grasp the idea of TOUCH screen. So please when travelling be mindfull of your fellow travellers and be gentle. And in future we will be paying the extortionate fee to pre-book our seats and get the back row of the bubble. |

I feel your pain! I've only experienced a 'screen basher' on one of my flights so I think you were unlucky with two 'at it' both ways
My next two trips - May and January - I was quick off the mark and have 19AC (back row, PE) booked both ways

OMG! I am so with you!
It is absolutely horrendous if you get a 'screen puncher'! Please, please people it just needs a light touch.

Lol had to laugh as this happened to my husband last year when we went to cuba ... he reclined his seat in the end and that helped...coming back we had a wall behind so it was bliss ..why do people do it !

Worse thing ever added to the IFE system IMHO ! But I'm afraid the airlines dont give a stuff about passenger comfort, only profit.
Along with seat back recline during meal time, touch screens cause more argument in flight than drunks or children continually kicking seat backs!

IFE is a wonderful thing. I just wish they would use a mouse system, rather than a touch screen.
I would agree with the previous poster re seat recline. I would simply delete the option and fix the seats in one position. Whilst you might lose a few passengers, you would undoubtably gain many more. Alcohol should be controlled. perhaps 3 vouchers per adult to be redeemed during the flight.

If you don't want to put up with this then pay for business class otherwise don't complain as the airline company couldn't care less...
But on another point, you just have to take a breath and ignore it, otherwise it will drive you insane. Maybe get a "special" pill from your doctor to chill out on! Its the screaming babys that do my head in but then thats what noise cancelling headphones were invented for

I imagine it cost a lot of money to install the IFE - for the benefit of the passengers - don't think it was done as a nice gesture.
Though I agree perhaps they overlooked this downside!

I had someone behind me in December who played games all the way to MCO..really annoying.I wish they would announce to use your nail when using the touchscreen,it is so much easier to change channels that way,and you're not annoying anyone then.

The trouble is, a light touch doesn't work. You have to press really hard on the screen to make it work. Design fault, I feel. Peter started playing a game and the lady in front very nicely asked him to stop as it was hurting her, so he watched a film instead. It would not have been possible to carry on playing the game as you need to press really hard or it won't work.
We didn't discover using your nail until the return flight. They should tell passengers, or provide a stylus. We didn't pay any exfra but we booked the back two seats in Economy so there was no-one behind us. |
