Ok... so looking into it again there doesnt seem to be any standard rooms avaliable with either Universal themselves or expedia

That must explain it

Wonder what is going on ?

No standard rooms explains the price being higher but I wonder why there is none, it can only be a block booking. There is a scientific conference from the 14th-18th if they are your dates.

Just had a look at your dates and for the full 2 weeks it is $280 a night on the universal website for a kids suite with no standard rooms as you said but if you split it 25/1-1/2 it is $168 a night for a lagoon view room(no standard available) and 1/2-8/2 it is $157 a night for a standard room (no lagoon available).

The problem seems to be there isn't the same category of room available for the 2 weeks so it is offering the kids suite which is available for the full 2 weeks.

Thank you for taking the time to do that

We would probably only want to pay the standard view price or we would think about Cabana Bay... just fancy the water taxi as it drops you off nearer. I have MS so the less walking I have to do the better, especially on the way home

Saying that $10 a night for the lagoon view is neither here nor there

No problem, hopefully there will be standard rooms available for the whole 2 weeks in 2021, understand why you fancy the water taxi, DW also has ms and it was the deciding factor between sf and cb for her for the same reason.

We had a standard room with a view over the road to ioa and think we would probably pay the extra for a lagoon view next time it is a lovely view as we looked out of the corridor Windows when passing.

I'd definitely recommend paying the extra for a lagoon view. It was very lovely to come back to after a long day at the parks. We'd return to the room at 4 from Universal, freshen up, go back out to eat, then come back and I'd sit in a chair by the window looking out.
