AK / EMH / FOP / rope drop

Hi all,

Well one day away from trying to get a FP for FOP and from what I'm reading, I'm not expecting too much. So my question:-

Whatever happens we are intending on visiting AK on a EMH day. So presuming I don't get a FP for FOP I'm hoping to get on it early.
We've never done EMH before so not sure how it works. It opens at 8.00am for us so what time would you recommend we get there? How do the CM's separate the EMH people from the offsite people at the gate queuing for the 9.00 am opening?

Resort guests are identifiable via the magicbands/scanning in process.
EMH days are generally the busiest park days. Queues for top rides may still be v busy right at EMH park-opening.

Hi, we rope dropped FOP twice in the last few weeks and it was a much better experience on the regular opening morning compared to EMH.

The problem was that bag check opened at 7.30 on both mornings. For the regular opening that was as people were arriving so near enough you lined up at a tapstile in the order you arrived and we ended up about 5th in line. On the EMH morning we had arrived at 7 and were just a couple of people back in the bag check line. By the time they opened bag check I couldn't even see the back of the queue and by the time we got through bag check everyone who had no bags (or a quicker bag checker) had managed to get to the tapstiles before us and we were about 20 people back at the tapstiles.

Having said that we were still able to ride reasonably quickly on the EMH morning but the whole experience was much more stressful.
