Have things changed for MK opening
We were last in WDW August 2016 and staying on site.
On our first morning we went to MK it was 8.00am opening for onsite guests. The opening ceremony took place outside of MK, the train came along carrying Mickey and the rest of the characters, they sang some songs, someone had been chosen to open the park etc. and then we all went through the turnstiles and headed into MK. Main Street was lined by CMs wearing big white gloves and greeting everyone. I have read now about the opening ceremony being at the hub, which I believe is at the end of Main Street in front of the palace. Is this what happens now? |

Yes the opening ceremony is now in front of the castle.
You can usually enter main street up to the hub from about 8am (on 9am opening). The shops on main street are open and photographers are around.
