Daughter had accident need advice
Hi
On friday my 16 year old daughter was burnt when an aerosol can exploded in a bonfire. We are in the local burns unit but she is doing well and have been told we can still travel in August. She will need factor 50 and hats/clothing but by being sensible she will be fine. We have a villa booked for first part of holiday but had planned 5 days at clearwater for the beach which I think I will need to cancel as I think that is too much sun exposure. Do any of you lovely dibbers have any suggestions for an alternative for these 5 days? We are 2 ad 16 and 14 year old, I did wonder if I drive would give us more choice? All suggestions gratefully received Thanks |

So sorry to hear about your daughter, what a nasty accident!
Are toy doing universal? If so maybe looking into staying onsite at one of their hotels?

Hi no we have tickets for sea world, aquatica and Busch gardens. We had decided to have a quiet trip this time which I am glad of now. One option could be an overnight at Busch and longer near sea world. Another villa for 5 nights may even be the best as she’s going to want to be outside but will need as much shade as possible x

Kennedy Space Center will take up a day of your time and is always worth a visit; plenty indoors too to avoid the sun

How awful for her yes I think the beach part might be too much look at things like lake Louisa state park cycling roundcelebration tubbing at Kelly springs Zip lining Big Cat Rescue
Giraffe ranch air boat ride etc Look at Florida on a tankful loads to do on there and inform your insurance now as they may have restrictions and have plenty of prescribed Meds and a repeat script copy Dressings if appropriate and she needs to stay super hydrated and have meticulous skin care routine And she may have to be out of fashion for a while but that's better than being self conscious the rest of her life and start stocking up on bio oil now it does really help |

Light long sleeved cotton cover ups and a large brimmed hat may help too. So sorry to hear about her nasty accident and hope she gets better soon again

FWIW, I hate direct exposed sunbathing because I burn very easily. However I still enjoy the beach and pool. I just cover up and plonk myself under shade. Then I can relax and soak up the atmosphere. Most of the bars and restaurants in Clearwater and the whole peninsula have undercover areas due to the amount of rain Florida gets. It’s perfectly possible to enjoy Clearwater and not expose your self to harmful UV.
Sorry to hear about you daughters accident. Edited at 07:19 AM. |
