Today we had fast passes for Na vi river. This is a ride that couldn't be far more opposite. It's taken rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen and Mexico but hasn't progressed, but has created a ride so boring you feel you have wasted time and wasted a fast pass on it. Everyone getting off this ride was saying the same thing. It is a really boring ride. A quick Google and I found many people agreeing.
My advise is if you can get fast passes for Flight of Passage then get that over Na vi river and if you are planning a second visit to AK then get another Flight of Passage and not Na vi river. You wont regret it.
Even during the extra 2 night hours that Avatar was only open to resort guests the queues were mad.
The original concept by the Imagineer's for this ride was out of this world.

Then Disney started with the cutbacks and it wasn't just a few either. What they delivered and what they promised to bears no resemblance to each other.

They need to start taking the way Universal do things on board.

Hi have to agree , for us navi river just lacks something to give it the hit factor. Perhaps something from the forest scenes in the film, plants disappearing or some of the animals

I'm still going to go on Navi, but haven't expected anything more than a pretty boat ride since day one. And I don't think they've tried to claim it's more than that either, although I can understand disappointment as you normally equate queue time with ride worthiness. But unless the queues shorten dramatically by the time we go, I'd rather waste a FP than an hour of my life queuing for ANY boat ride.

On a related note, I do wonder how much of SW they'll actually deliver. Having CMs in full costume makeup every day like in the concept art is going to cost them an absolute fortune. I don't think it will end up as immersive as they're claiming, I predict human "guides" for the most part instead of aliens. But we shall see.

What was delivered is a country mile from the original concept.

One of the Imagineers who worked on it initially said there were many cuts and what they ended up with was nowhere close to what they had on the drawing board and was initially green-lighted by Disney.

That same chap now works for Universal where what is proposed is what is delivered with maybe one or two cuts.

I agree, we felt exactly the same. I'd advise anyone to just fast pass flight of passage and forget the river journey altogether.

We rode navi first and did appreciate it but I think if you did FOP first you would think it was lame in comparison

.

But isn't that the point? My 4 year old can't ride FOP so we're doing NR so he gets to experience Avatar land too. I thought it was the Avatar land family/all can ride ride.

Exactly, not everything has to be a thrill ride. For starters, really young ones can't do FOP and I'm sure N'avi will 'wow' them.

We felt the same we have just got back from WDW and although glad we did It we were very disappointed with The River Journey, I think they really missed something there and it could have been amazing but just felt it fell flat. We wouldn't rush to do it again anytime soon. Such a shame. We loved FOP though.

I must admit I do shut my eyes on Spiderman at the drops!

I wouldn't worry too much. I've never been brave enough to try going on spiderman or star tours so if you can manage them you should be ok.
