There is often thunderstorms forecast and they usually only last a short part of the day. It will be what it will be and there's no point worrying as you can't control the weather. I would buy a poncho and do your best to carry on. Prolonged thunder and lightening will mean water parks and outdoor rides are affected.

Last August there were thunderstorms in the area of MCO, when we landed.
The plane landed fine, but we all had to remain on the plane for over an hour afterwards as the ground crew are not allowed outside if there is lightening in the vicinity. This particular storm hung around rather than moving off quickly, as the often do.
There were a number of planes backed up due to no one being allowed to disembark, immigration was busy, but not horrific.
Apparently some planes due to land were diverted to other airports as they couldn't land.
It's the one and only time we've had a storm as we've landed, although it was a pain, it was not a disaster. We flew Virgin and they kept the seat back entertainment going so we all just carried on watching films etc until it was our time to leave.

We've landed twice during a storm. Our plane once got hit by lightening as the captain warned us when we got off not to be alarmed by the nose being so black! Thunderstorms are normal in Florida, that's why it's nicknamed the lightening capital of the US! A poncho is all you need. No need to bring a big coat as you'll get end up getting hot and sweaty under it. As someone else mentioned the storms will affect any outdoor rides or water parks so just plan accordingly. Hopefully the storm doesn't last too long and doesn't affect your holiday. Have a great time

Flight will be diverted to Tampa if the storms make it to dangerous to land at MCO

It can be very wet in Summer due to the sub tropical climate. Its not dry air and blue skies like people expect from Greece etc. Big white fluffy clouds covering a lot of sky and thunderstorms usually in the afternoon.

The humidity builds through out the day and then it releases. It will rain somewhere but is often localised and can be torrential in MK but dry in EPCOT.

You cant wear a coat as its too hot. Its the same as a sauna, literally the same and you would bake in anything more than a poncho. An example below of rain!

Hi there

We are here at the moment arrived on Thursday last week - we have had extremely heavy rain every day except the Firday which was our first day. Usually it's been in the afternoon. It's been starting off drizzly then the heavens have just opened. It's been a bit longer than a 20 minute downpour too. Definitely bring ponchos - we bought some in the parks. We don't mind the rain at all however the only bad thing is the outside rides close if lightning is in the area ☹. Looking out of our room window right now - it dull and grey, we are in for more rain today and tomorrow too so our first week has been a bit of a washout.

Can either buy ponchos here but places like asdas often have them, not expensive.

We also bring a couple of ziplock freezer bags to put them in once they have got wet. Can never get them into the bags they came in.

Even if you get soaked it is often warm rain. Rides are so used to it that they often carry on the rain, but will close for lightening in the area. So because rain is so very localised you can have the situation that rides are open in rain but closed when dry. This is because somewhere nearby somebody has lightening.

There are lots of weather aps, personally I use wesh. This has a toggle button on it to give you lightening distances and alerts. I also find the weather radar helpful. AccuWeather is also good.

Last night it was pinging away as lightening was overhead for a while.

You just carry on. That said it has been extra rainy recently (in my view).

We're here now
It was really hot and sunny for our first few days. Now it's really cloudy, light drizzle on and off and normally heavy rain /storm about 3pm. It is still really hot though. We have been getting to parks for opening and leaving about 2 ish it's not ruined our plans so far.
