tomdan - do you mean free allocated seats in advance? Who are you flying with as I wondered about this.
Yes i diomean free allocated seats, we havent booked anything yet but normally go with tui and i found out that they do a free seat for the person with special needs and one for a carer. They use a name for it and i cannot remember what it is but itis mentioned in one of the other posts.

Why would you choose not to declare it and then potentially be refused treatment if it becomes relevant for some reason?

Always declare for insurance is the doctrine here.
Agree and this is what i told my friend.

Last time we went to Florida it was with BA. My husband rang special assistance and explained we like to "box in" our grandson who has autism, I sit next to him and his granddad and brother sit in front. That way if he fidgets or kicks seats it`s not disturbing anyone else. They were fab, opened our booking and let us pick our seats free of charge.

Just read up on this, DS12 was diagnosed a couple of years ago, never even thought to declare it to the insurance company, after all, it's a life-long condition, not an illness; its something he has always had.

I declare to insurance my 22 yr old is autistic (albeit high functioning). Imagine worst case scenario - she needs to be hospitalised for physical reasons - she wouldn’t be able to cope staying on her own yet as an adult would probably be expected to. Declare, declare, declare.

Phoned up the insurance company, Eczema, ADHD, Autism and Generalised Anxiety Disorder declared. no upcharge; again with Natwest platinum account Travel Insurance. The questions they asked was has he been hospitalised within the past 12 months because of these. Is he on medication.
