Goodbye Ken Potrock!

Reported elsewhere that Ken has moved to another position in Disney.

He was not a bad leader of DVC, wonder who we will end up with this time, It seems nobody hangs round long enough to make the role theirs!

Better the devil you know and all that...

I think he was very good in the role. I note he is going to the consumer products division whatever that is!

Going to be an interesting few days until they announce his replacement. I have submitted my CV and am waiting to hear if they will hire me.

I thought he may be on his way when they got a new top man. Not sure if head of consumer products commercialisation is a promotion or not?
I thought he could speak well and was a good marketeer. Maybe that's why he's heading up a products commercialisation division.
This however is why you never buy direct for perks. The new (wo)man coming in may have an entirely different view, and may want to shake things up. Historically, new management has seen changes to perks.
So big question- will it stay the same, perks get cut substantially, or more perks be added.
Given the speed that DVC is selling and the inflation of prices, I wouldn't be surprised to see perks whittled to the bone, but watch this space I suppose.

I think whoever comes in is just a Yes (wo)man to those at the top anyway, seems DVC is a stepping stone to other things, I am surprised that he was there 5 years, I think the lady before him was only a few, then there was that guy that was fired... It's a bit of a revolving door at Disney must be very pressured.

I personally think they will carry on pushing the benefits that you get from Direct, they have created a 2 class system now with resale being 'left out' of most benefits, though they fail to mention the savings far outweigh $100 of an AP or a few hours in a theme park on a select night etc..

Gavvy, don't forget the free Cokes and the packets of crisps they are too tight to leave out, but will wheel around on a trolley every hour if you're lucky. Or the $5 bag. Or the ability to spend 50% more on a cruise.
I'm being too hard... I'm actually looking forward to going in the Member's Lounge next month.
As someone points out on the other site, they have removed the Member's Mix and Mingle free evening event at Copper Creek Reunion Station, despite heavily touting it as a new benefit. This sets a new record though, as it never actually started!
I wonder if it's a sign of things to come.

I read about the CCR thing on DVCnews, that's very sneaky, at least be upfront if you are cancelling something!
I'm still curious to see how many will pay $50 pp per night for the concierge lounge thing at CCR, that's a lot of dosh for a few hours of drink and food at times when most are in the parks anyway!

Interesting times, I wonder who will be the new boss!

I have always said, we love the lounge and its a nice place to sit, grab a drink and relax for 15 mins, you can understand the trolley, as can you imagine a box of crisps left out, people would just grab handfuls of them and they would be gone in minutes ( thats why they had to take away the coffee pods, as people were just taking handfuls of them )

Virgin just put them out in the 1st class railway lounges, so I'm not convinced people would do that, especially with people watching.

There is a reason the Aspire lounge in Bristol went from helping yourself to bar service, at one stage they could not keep up with the amount of drink being 'consumed' I was told they had a massive decrease in amount served once it went to bar service. It was all walking out the door.

People can get very greedy when its 'free' I once saw one woman help herself to 5 bacon rolls- which were left on the table cold when they left.

I think I've been in Bristol's aspire lounge too much
