Thinking of Canada
Hi, my husband and I are looking to book The Sheraton at Niagara Falls and wondered apart from the beautiful sight of the falls what else is a 'must do'. Also we are thinking Oct, what is the weather like there in Oct? Thanks in advance. Mand

Hi, can’t really advise as I’ve never been but work with people who have and their advice is it’s nice to visit for a day but do it as part of a trip as they found it a bit tacky to stay any longer. I’m sure others who have been can help you out a little more.

We have been a couple of times weather is changeable but usually nice.
The falls are amazing and so very noisy ! We stay at the embassy suites overlooking the falls . The town area ..Clifton Hill is a eye opener.. tackyish but not dirty or unsafe. The town of Niagara on the lake is very pretty , if you are driving back to Toronto you drive around the lake and see some amazing houses. You can also visit some of the wineries on the way back , you will see the signs o the side of the road giving directions. Edited at 10:49 PM. |

I love Canada and really enjoyed our trip to the falls, but agree with what has been said about just a day visit or overnight stay. I did find Clifton Hill tacky. Niagara on the lake worth a visit and we did the winery but so glad we were staying in Toronto as there is so much more to see and do. Weather could be nice or chilly...hard to say really...sorry

Another one who says a day is enough - we did it as a day trip from Toronto one April and saw everything easily! I imagine October would be similar.
Niagara on the Lakes is a lovely town. Toronto is a great city too - doable on public transport (we just hired a car for the day trip to Nigara!)

Another agreement about “downtown” Niagara Falls - we found it really commercialised, but the walk along the river to the falls was fantastic.
We just visited for the day from Toronto, an easy drive. On recommendation from a family member who lives in Toronto, we visited Niagara on the Lake which was fantastic - the complete opposite to Niagara itself.

We have been a few times at the end of October, and have gone sometimes from being sunburnt at the beginning of the week, to snow by the end. I would agree about the Falls - a day is enough. Niagara on the Lake is lovely. Maid of the Mist used to stop running the last week , but not too sure if that is still the case.
