Animal Kindom Strategy

We’re only having 1 day at Disney and doing AK. We’re hoping to do the wild Africa trek. Some have said it’s best to do this first thing however it would hem be late morning starting to queue for the rides!

With that in mind do you think it would be better to arrive for rope drop and try and get on a couple of the most popular rides and do the trek late morning? Or go with the trek first thing and hope for the best with the rides?

our strategy is always to turn up at rope drop, go straight to Kilimanjaro Safaris (we've never fastpass this, and have always walk on and been satisfied) we always fastpass Expedition Everest, usually we do this after the safari. Lion King, Finding Nemo and the UP! shows have always been a must (we turn up 15 minutes before they begin) Dinosaur and Primeval whirl are always fun.

We haven't done Avatar my advice would be if you can get FP for FOP and River Navi then get them and do it. You can get a lot done in Animal Kingdom in one day, a lot of other attractions are walk throughs.

I did the Trek with an 11.40 start time (this was first slot for the second batch of times, so we weren’t following another group). We had Fastpasses before.

The later groups also had a discount compared to early ones (not sure if still the case).

But it is amazing!

We did the trek two years ago. We had the very early slot and started 8.30 before the park opened and before it got too hot. The afternoon slots were definitely slightly cheaper. Quite a lot of walking and standing but amazing and would go again in a heartbeat.
Loved the behind the scenes tour as well, can't remember the name of it though.
